Dino Says Goodbye

After reflecting back on our time with Dino, we sent Dino on to visit his next school. Dino was mailed on March 30th to Boardman, OH where he will visit students at Market Street Elementary.

Dino and Noah

Dino spent Friday evening, March 27th, with Noah.

First we went to my house and watch, "Sponge Bob Square Pants". Then, my dad made dinner. My family went to the store. I got a basketball hoop. Dino and I played basketball together. Dino made two dunks. Then, we went to sleep.

Dino spent Thursday evening, March 26th, with Dustin.

On Thursday, Dino and I went to build with the Legos. Dino made a platform. It was awesome. We ate dinner. Dino liked the pizza and pop. We both thought it was good. We watched "SpongeBob Square Pants" on TV. It was funny. Then we listened to hip hop music. We read my "Bone" book for a couple of minutes. I had to take a shower and then we went to bed.

Dino spent the evening of Wednesday the 25th with me. After school, we went to Jets together. Dino tried to drink my grape juice. Then he helped me and a friend with a competition. Dino and I won a prize. After Jets, we went to Wal-mart with my family. We had a great time.

Dino visits Bryce

The first day I had Dino, we walked home together. I forgot my jacket in the art room and we had to go back to get it. Then Dino drove a car and almost crashed! We also played guitar and drums together. Then Dino and I went to bed.

The next morning we played Marion Kart Wii and Dino got first place! Dino also dunked a basketball. then we ate breakfast at school. Some kins in my class went in the classroom and balanced Dino on their head before school started. My friend, Michael, took silly pictures of Dino and I.

I was excited when it was my turn to take Dino home! We played basketball at recess. Then we went to P.E. and music. Later, we read together during A.R. time. During science, Dino helped me build my zoo habitat with Zoo Tycoon. Then it was time to go home.

Oh the way home, We took picture on the bus. Later when we got to my house, we watched, "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody" together on T.V. Then Dino met some new friends. we played the recorder and read. Dino take a nap with my dad and decided to sit with my mom after he woke up. We ate dinner and watched, "Destroyed in Seconds". I think Dino really loved that show. We also watched, "Dancing with the Star." When Dino heard a song that he liked, he started dancing to it. Dino wanted to hear more music so we listened to songs on my mp3 player. I think his favorite song might be "Heartless" by Kayne West.

After all that dancing, it was time to go to bed. In the morning, we got up and brushed our teeth together. Then we rode back to school on the school bus. Dino stayed with me during reading. Then we said good bye to each other when I went to computers.

Samantha and Dino

This blog post was written by Samantha. Dino spent the weekend with Samantha because it was her birthday and Sam's big sister came for a visit.

When I got Dino, we did lots of things together. For example, we played on the playground and had lots of fun. After a while, Dino wanted to play with some friends so we did. Dino drank a whole thing of pop. He started to get hyper and I had to calm him down which took forever. After calming Dino down, it was time for a nap. We actually took a long nap. Then when we woke up, we were hungry. We started to eat everything that we could find. Dino and I got in trouble, so we decided to go outside to see the goats. After seeing the goats, we played hide-n-go-seek. It was easy to find Dino. Then Dino was pooped out, so he took another nap. Later, we got to open presents. Dino got there to open presents before I did. So, I was mad at Dino.

After a while, Dino started to disappear and then come back. I realized that Dino was flying. He crashed, but was not hurt. Then Dino started acting cool. He started taking pictures of himself. Pretty soon, it was time to go to bed. We woke up and went to school. It was time for Dino to spent time with another person, so I said good bye to Dino.

This post was written by Allyssa. Dino spent Thursday night, the 19th of March, with Allyssa.

Dino and I went to the dance studio where I dance every Wednesday. Then, we went to Dillons and Dino helped us pick out stuff for supper. We stopped at the Girl Scout House on the way home. At home, we watched TV together and ate supper. Then Dino took a shower, brushed his teeth and read a story. He started to get a little tired, so we went to bed. In the morning we picked out our clothes and ate breakfast. We had toast and milk for breakfast. Then we went back to school but we stopped by Kwik Shop first and got some chips.

This post was written by Britney. Dino spent Wednesday night, the 18th of March, with Britney.

Dino went home with me the first day we got him. We took our backpacks off when we got home. Then we went to jump on the trampoline. We got on my laptop and played pinball. It was so much fun! After that, we ate supper. Later we went in my room and watched TV. We watched SpongeBob and iCarly. We asked my dad is we could have a snack and he said yes. So we got an icee for a snack. After that, Dino made a video of me eating myicee. After 9:30 p.m., we went to bed. Then next day, I brought Dino back to school.

Meet Dino the Dinosaur!

Dino the Dinosaur has come to visit our third graders in Burrton and learn about our small Kansas community. Dino is a travel buddy. Dino is currently on tour visiting schools around the United States and has stopped for a visit in Burrton! Dino’s home is Rowland Norment Elementary School in Lumberton, North Carolina.

Dino is providing our 3rd graders the opportunity to share a little about our community as well as a chance to learn about the other communities Dino has already visited. Each day a student will be responsible for taking Dino home, journaling about Dino's activities and taking pictures to share with our new friends in North Carolina. Each morning, the student is to return Dino and the digital camera to Mrs. Herl or to Mrs. Schmidt.

We are excited to have the opportunity to incorporate geography, writing skills, reading skills, math skills and technology skills into this activity.
